SchoolSt. Mary's Academy is looking for a full-time, Lower School Library Media Specialist. This position involves:
-helping children and teachers access the materials and information they need;
-evaluating, selecting and purchasing materials for young readers;
-keeping current with children's literature
-cataloguing materials
-accessing instructional resources such as indexes, bibliographies, web pages, etc
-collaborating with classroom teachers on project-based learning activities
The ideal candidate will:
- have good interpersonal skills
- good written and oral communication skills
- employ strong decision making skills
- be creative and flexible
- enjoy elementary age children
- be a team player
Technical skills include:
- familiarity with Mac Operating System;
- familiarity with Safari, Firefox and Chrome web browsers;
- willingness and ability to learn new software applications;
- basic troubleshooting;
- able to evaluate and recommend age-appropriate computer software;
- familiarity with web privacy and safety;
- maintain inventory of laptop carts and notify IT of issues;
- familiarity with Promethean ActivBoards and ActivStudio;
- familiarity with Mac iLife Suite a plus.
