Job Description

The Visiting Reference/Instruction Librarian is a temporary position available immediately ending June 30, 2013, with a strong possibility of renewal. Responsibilities: Teach sessions in the Library Instruction program in coordination with Introductory Composition and Intermediate Composition courses. Share responsibility with other reference librarians in staffing the reference desk, 10-12 hours each week, including an evening shift. Teach faculty requested bibliographic instruction sessions, as assigned. Assist in collection development work in areas to be determined. Member of the Reference/ Instruction Library Team. Member of the Librarians’ Council. Possible assistance managing electronic resource collection. Other duties as assigned. Salary and Benefits: Salary: $34,000.00 annually, prorated to actual months worked Benefits: Medical, dental, and retirement plans are the same as faculty. There are a variety of medical and retirement plans available.

Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information science; demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute as part of a team; excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills; proficiency in use of online search systems Preferred: Library instruction experience, especially classroom teaching; library reference experience, or equivalent.
