Job Description

Department Information: The Libraries Scholarly Resource Development Department is responsible for acquiring library materials in all formats to support the teaching and research mission of the university. This unit manages the Libraries' budget for collections, approximately $10 million each year, and the Libraries' endowment and gift funds. This unit ensures compliance with University fiscal rules in acquiring materials, implements projects to assess collections and to meet user needs for materials, and participates in regional and national resource sharing and interlibrary borrowing initiatives. Nature of Work: This position exists to support the management of interlibrary loan borrowing services and the document delivery service of online articles from the libraries' collection to University faculty, students, and staff. Annually the Libraries receives 20,000 requests from University users for materials that the Libraries does not own, which must be borrowed or purchased in order to support teaching and research needs. This position verifies bibliographic entries for monographic and serial requests and designates borrowing locations for materials within Colorado, U.S., and international holdings. This position processes incoming requests from CU patrons, checking availability, assigning call numbers, and verifying incorrect or incomplete citations. In addition, this position supervises student assistants, works with library patrons, and communicates with departments within our library and others.

Additional Info & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications: Two years of general library experience including typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials, which included at least six months of Interlibrary Loan or related experience. Substitution: Two years of course work from an accredited college or university including twelve semester hours of Library science course work may substitute for two years of the general library experience. Competency with computers and library related software 4. Competency with Excel 5. Interpersonal & Customer Service Skills Desired Qualifications: Ideal candidate is already familiar with ILLiad/Interlibrary Loan, Acquisitions and Collection Development. Has some knowledge of foreign languages and is familiar with ILLiad Custom Reports.
