AcademicThe Westminster Law Library in the Sturm College of Law at the University
of Denver invites nominations and applications for a full-time Law
Library Faculty Director. This position is 12 months per year, with an
initial contract of two years, with the possibility of renewal. It is
estimated to begin on July 1, 2013.
The Sturm College of Law seeks a proven, visionary leader to serve as
its chief strategist to develop its next-generation law library,
combining traditional information strategies with those of an innovative
and effective research library with new information resources and
technology programs that enhance its research, teaching and learning
activities, and community outreach. The Director is responsible for
transforming the law library into an Academic Hub that promotes
effective uses of digital information resources in discovery and
learning for the education of practice ready attorneys.
In order to be considered at the associate or full professor rank,
publications in professional journals are required.

•J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited institution.
•MLIS (or foreign equivalent) from an ALA-accredited institution.
•Demonstrated knowledge of broad range of legal subject matter, law
school culture, professional law librarianship concepts, principles, and
practices.

•Demonstrated expertise in 21st century collection development practices and
electronic information resources and substantive experience with
information technology or library systems beyond knowledge of LEXIS,
WESTLAW, legal publishing trends, and office software, as well as the
ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with online
vendors of law library resources.
•Documented and significant budgeting knowledge and experience.

•Initiative and ability to work both independently and in a collaborative, collegial environment.
•Outstanding interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive issues.
•Seven or more years of law library administrative experience.
