The City of Aurora is seeking a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Library Systems Supervisor. This person will coordinate the training, maintenance and upgrade of III Millennium software for Library services and supervise the systems support staff to include cataloging, Interlibrary Loan, mail room and courier.
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field. Demonstrated experience may be considered. Masters degree in Library Sciences or Information Systems strongly preferred.
Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary physical work requiring ability to occasionally lift a maximum of 20 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing; vision for reading and interpreting reports and data analysis and preparation; hand/eye coordination for operation of computer keyboard; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees, and citizens.
Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field. Demonstrated experience may be considered. Masters degree in Library Sciences or Information Systems strongly preferred.
Experience: 5 years progressively responsible related experience including at least 3 years working with a library computer system, Innovative Interfaces preferred but not required, and 1 year of supervisory and/or lead work experience. Some library public service experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Knowledge: Knowledge of how computers are used in libraries and how they can best serve staff and the public.
Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers and other city departments; assign and supervise the work of others; handle situations with tact and diplomacy; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and fulfill goals and objectives; proactively research, analyze, present recommendations and when appropriate, implement complex computer system changes and upgrades that may be initiated by a variety of sources including staff, management and vendors.
Skills: Strong interpersonal, analytical, and oral and written communication skills; advanced skill in the use of personal computer including spreadsheets, database management and word-processing. Advanced use of library computer system.
