Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Seeking a friendly, outgoing librarian to manage the El Pomar Nonprofit Resource Center. Manages the collection and budget, conducts extensive outreach, and coordinates as well as teaches fundraising and grant seeking workshops to the public. Establishes and maintains strong partnerships with national and area agencies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works on the public services desks providing reference services to walk-ins, over the phone, via email and instant messaging.
  • Assists and instructs patrons through material and on-line searches, computer software applications, reference/in-depth research, community referrals, and outside sources/collections.
  • Manages El Pomar Nonprofit Resource Center, its collection and budget.
  • Conducts extensive outreach and coordinates as well as teaches fundraising and grant seeking workshops to the public
  • Establishes and maintains strong partnerships with national and area agencies-Foundation Center, El Pomar Foundation, Association of Fundraising Professionals-Southern Colorado Chapter.
  • Creates and sends monthly online EPNRC Newsletter to 1,096 subscribers.
  • Provides reader’s advisory services.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all patron and staff interactions.
  • Promotes library services through tours, demonstrations, talks and displays.
  • Serves as the “person in charge” in the absence of the Adult Services Manager.
  • Serves as a liaison with community groups and provides outreach to communicate services and programs.
  • Organize and conduct projects related to departmental goals and needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Two plus years of professional experience working in a library required
  • Advanced knowledge of library practices, procedures and materials
  • Ability to research and gather information on trends and resources in the library field
  • Proficiency on computer applications and databases, including Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to listen to others, and effectively interact with others
  • Works collaboratively, is open to the ideas of others and builds trust throughout the organization
  • Practices teamwork, demonstrates a “whatever-it-takes” work ethic, and has an excellent customer service attitude.
  • Bilingual ability is a plus in serving our diverse community.
