Job Description

Background Information: This is an opportunity for a library manager with creativity, drive and vision to join our Central Library management team. It’s a role for an innovator who will lead the work of the newly developing Books and Borrowing Department at the Central Library. The Central Library serves the needs of Denver’s information seekers with in-depth collections, expert reference librarians, technology and coordinated service delivery. Services and collections included in the Books and Borrowing Department are non-fiction for teens and adults, fiction for teens and adults, international languages, audio books, readers advisory services and circulation services. This is an opportunity for inspirational leader to empower staff, volunteers and community collaborators to achieve the Library’s strategic vision. Duties and Responsibilities: LEADERSHIP: Guides staff, docents and volunteers with an inspirational, forward looking vision that encourages innovation and best practices. Serves on the Public Services management team and works in collaboration with other managers to formulate and achieve the Library’s strategic initiatives. Creates a work environment that encourages high performance. Develops and sustains strong relationships with staff from all library divisions and community partners. MANAGEMENT: Develops budgets, controls expenditures and develops procedures for responsible use of all resources. Delegates responsibility and authority to Senior Librarians and other team members. Directs staff selection, development, training, discipline and evaluation. Works with Facilities and Security to ensure library facilities are clean, safe and attractive.TECHNICAL: Stays current with library trends and community needs for teens and adults. Develops and implements programs and service initiatives to deliver quality public library services. Maintains regular communication with other agencies, institutions and organizations serving teens and adults. Recommends changes in workflow and operational procedures. Uses available tools and programs to develop communications and presentations. TEAMBUILDING: Fosters a collaborative team environment. Manages the Central Library Books and Borrowing services group based on trust and open communication. Communicates effectively with colleagues, internal and external customers

Additional Info & Requirements

Salary Range: $31.17 - $38.94 per hour starting salary range; $31.17 - $49.74 per hour full salary range. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.
