Job Description

Job title:  Network Administrator (part connector, part network connoisseur, partproblem solver)

Business Unit: IT

Hiring Pay range: $55,000 to $65,000 DOE

Job Type: Full-time; exempt

Job description:  

You are a connector – understanding how the networks that make up our infrastructure help us to enable connections in the larger Anythink community. With the big picture in mind, you use your are the computernetwork and server infrastructure expertexpertise to , able to ensure their stable operations within of our in-house network. You have a passion for technology, and are a natural at taking ownership of the network hardware, software, and communication links. As a member of Anythink’s Being part of a stellar IT team, you quickly eagerly take on the the difficult challenging help desk requestspuzzles to resolve  to resolve end- user hardware and software problems.

Your vision:

  • You are a wizard at performing network design and capacity planning.
  • You enjoy thrive in collaborative environments and work with the IT Directorteam, to develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery, including adherence to ISO 27002 and PCI/DSS requirements.
  • You oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networking (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VOIP) hardware, networked storage, software, and peripheral devices.
  • You are an explorer of partnerships, interacting with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
  • You can roll up your sleeves in get deep into the detaproblem-solve with fervor, committed to finding the best solution byils of conducting research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network IT procurement and development efforts.
  • You know how to manage serversmanage servers with ease, including e-mail, web, database, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
  • You understand and oversee security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • You comfortably easily manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, WLAN controllers, remote PDU units, UPS, and software upgrades.
  • You ensure network connectivity of all workstations and district assets, helping to keep Anythink services for staff and customers up and running.
  • You are a genius at network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory, and related documentation, and technical specifications information.
  • You administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • You perform server and security audits as well as system backups and recovery.
  • You monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • You recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • You share your knowledge, providing guidance to other members of the team, including the system administrator and help desk staff.
  • You have great ideas to share on district committees and enjoy taking a leadership role.

Additional Info & Requirements

Do you have what it takes?

  • You have a degree in the field of computer science and/or 3 years’ equivalent work experience.
  • You have a Network+, Cisco, or Extreme Networks Certification (or equivalent)
  • You have a working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows Server 2008, Windows 7.
  • You have a working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including firewalls, routers, switches, iSCSI, and NFS.
  • You are knowledgeable of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • You can be on-call availability for 2-4 days per month.
  • You are and active person but still able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • You havegot dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • You can perform occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
  • You are able to lift and transport of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.

It would be great if you had experience in:

  • Basic knowledge of Mac OS/X,
  • Basic knowledge of Linux, especially webserver support
  • Familiarity with common information security standards and PCI/DSS requirements
  • Experience with Fortinet or Juniper firewalls
  • Experience with Extreme Networks switches
  • Experience with Cisco wireless controllers and access points
  • Experience in a VMware environment
  • Experience with MS-SQL and/or MySQL
  • Experience with ShoreTel VOIP system
  • Security+ or Server+ certifications

    Your job will involve your being “on the move” in our libraries: You will stand, walk, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb, push/pull up to 50 pounds, and lift up to 25 pounds.
