Job Description

DUTIES: Entry level position. Develop and maintain the Library’s web site including periodic assessment and usability testing to meet the changing needs of users and library; manage database interfaces including monitoring, communicating and implementing vendor changes; maintain a working knowledge of emerging technologies critical to the design and delivery of responsive library services to students; provide training on use of electronic resources to library faculty and staff; general reference desk duties 12-15 hours/week including nights and weekends; bibliographic instruction, collection development and liaison with selected academic departments; participation in library policy formulation; university and professional service; research and creative work.

The Community

The Colorado Springs campus of the University of Colorado was established in 1965. The student population is approximately 7650. Most students are commuters, but campus housing is available for about 900 students. Doctoral degrees are offered in engineering, geropsychology, educational leadership and nursing practice. The campus also has graduate programs in business, public administration, and a variety of arts and science areas. Colorado Springs, located at the foot of Pikes Peak, has a population of approximately 500,000, with tourism, high technology, manufacturing, sports and the military ranking as the key industries within the community. Located 70 miles south of Denver, Colorado Springs offers a wide variety of leisure and educational activities including sports, parks, symphony, local theater groups, museums and several institutions of higher education.
