Job Description

One part time benefited Circulation Clerk #2014-00182.  Position is scheduled approximately 28 hours per week.  Hours will be scheduled Monday - Sunday between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. 

The incumbent provides customer service for the general public and performs a variety of routine and repetitive clerical work in support of library circulation services. The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, external entities, and the public in delivering effective and innovative services.  Provide holistic services to internal and external customers by seeking ways to integrate programs or services provided by other departments, divisions, and external entities.

The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, external entities, and the public in delivering effective and innovative services.  Provide holistic services to internal and external customers by seeking ways to integrate programs or services provided by other departments, divisions, and external entities.

Performs routine customer assistance and clerical work in support of the Library Department including greeting and welcoming the public, charging/discharging books and other materials, assisting patrons with library card registration, collecting fines and fees,  processing credit card payments, and entering data into library’s computer system. Answers and directs telephone calls empties book drop bins and shelves some library materials.  Maintains confidentiality of all patron data and information.  Maintains records, files, and other materials according to established methods and procedures. Follows up on patron record issues.  Operates a personal computer and applicable software. Processes incoming and outgoing Prospector and FLC consortium loans and returns, and assists with repair and maintenance of library materials.  Identifies and recommends improvements in divisional and departmental operations to ensure support functions are efficient and cost effective. Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents.  Uses all required safety equipment.  Performs related duties as required.
