Job Description

The Arapahoe Library District is looking for a Supervisor to join our progressive library system. This position is located in the Eastern Plains at our Kelver and Davies branches. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills who has at least two years of successful supervisory experience, a bachelor’s degree, and proven leadership experience. Location: Kelver Library, 404 E. Front St., Byers, CO 80103 and Davies Library, 303 Third Ave., Deer Trail, CO 80105.

Reports to: Manager of DA, KE, SH, MLS, C&FLS
Supervises: Multiple
Hours: Full-time, Exempt
Hiring Range: $50,800 - $63,500 per year

Role: Supervises daily patron service operations at the Kelver and Davies Libraries.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
40%  OPERATIONS - Supervises daily operations of the Kelver and Davies Libraries by gathering information and making sense of it, communicating information to employees, organizing resources and making decisions in order to ensure the proper functioning of the two library locations.

40% LEADERSHIP AND SUPERVISION - Supervises library employees by planning, coaching, and reviewing performance in order to optimize the performance of library employees.

10% COMPLAINTS - Resolves complaints from the public and employees by researching problems, seeking alternative solutions, and making decisions to satisfy patrons and employee concerns.

10% COMMUNITY RELATIONS - Builds and maintains relationships with community leaders by attending community meetings and developing and implementing community programs in order to promote literacy and library resources.

5. COMMUNITY RELATIONS - Effective networking in the community.

Qualifications:
Two to five years of similar or related experience, required.

Two years successful supervisory experience, required.

Bachelors degree, required.

Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills, including responsibility for outcomes, personal productivity, practical thinking, adaptability, coaching, interpersonal skills and business ethics, required.

Ability to travel between facilities, required.

Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.

Intermediate technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Outlook, required.

Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred.

Knowledge of informational databases, required.

Ability to be mobile 50% of the time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push a loaded wheeled book truck weighing up to 100 pounds and ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted, and up to 50 pounds assisted occasionally, preferred.

Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive enjoy learning and have fun.

Excellent communication skills, required.

Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a team environment, required.

Ability to exercise confidence and excitement in the vast technological and online resources the Library District has available.

Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, including mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
