Job Description

What You’ll Do:

Work at the Green Valley Ranch Branch, 4856 N. Andes Court, to create positive experiences for library customers by providing programming and outreach, designed to educate and promote library usage, to a wide variety of audiences.  Provide daily out-of-school time programming to youth. Promote early literacy outreach to children between the ages of 0-5 years.  Create and deliver engaging storytimes.  Implement library services and resources, including intergenerational programming, to a diverse customer base that focuses on youth and their families.  Assist customers in circulation, reference and readers/media advisory.  Work cooperatively with other staff and volunteers.  Oversee library operations as assigned.      

You Have:

Knowledge of training and development practices.  Skill in designing, preparing, implementing, delivering and evaluating professional instruction and programs.  Skill in presenting information to a diverse range of ages and cultures, individually and in groups.  Skill in choosing appropriate materials for programming and outreach.  Skill in reading aloud clearly, concisely and with expression.  Ability to exercise initiative, judgment and decision making in problem solving and meeting organizational objectives.  Ability to relate to the needs of customers of all ages and skill levels.  Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers and community. Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner.  Ability to multi-task and prioritize.  Ability to use extensive workplace and other technology including email, internet, databases, eMedia, social media and other software.  Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made. 

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study. 

Spanish language fluency (preferred, not required).

Excellent customer service skills.

We Provide:

$19.39 - $23.84 per hour starting salary range; $19.39 - $28.31 per hour full salary range.

Although the full salary range for this position is provided, starting salary is typically made at or near the range minimum.  The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.

Regular, full-time, 40 hours per week. The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and may include evening and weekend hours.
