Job Description

The Arapahoe Library District is looking for a Customer Experience/Advisory Specialist for our Mobile Library Services team. The ideal candidate will have  their CDL or will be able to successfully obtain their CDL through our training program, and have experience driving large, non-standard vehicles as this position will be working with our Bookmobile and outreach. Are you passionate about the library? Supervises: 0
Position: 40 hours per week, full-time, non-exempt
Hiring Range: $15.05 - $18.78 per hour

Role: Assists patrons in the use of the library by delivering outstanding and personalized customer service at remote locations.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
65% CUSTOMER RELATIONS – Provide outstanding and personalized service by greeting patrons, assisting them with access to information, services, and resources; locating materials, and preparing and presenting program and outreach activities in order to enhance the patron's enjoyment and usage of library services.

20% COLLECTION MERCHANDISING AND MAINTENANCE Maintains the collection display at service sites by loading and unloading carts and boxes, maintaining assigned area of the collection, setting up materials, and rotating materials on carts in order to promote, attract and make the collection accessible to patrons.

15% DRIVING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE Drives Library District mobile library service vehicles to service sites by fueling appropriate vehicles, checking for safety and serviceability, maintaining surface appearance, completing inspection check lists, safely operating the vehicle and observing traffic regulations in order to park the vehicle at assigned times and locations.

1. CUSTOMER RELATIONS – Outstanding and personalized internal and external customer service.
2. COLLECTION MERCHANDISING AND MAINTENANCE Effective display and maintenance of library collection.
3. DRIVING AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE Safe and on time operation of the vehicle.

Qualifications:
Two to five years of similar or related experience, preferred.

Bachelor's degree, preferred.

Experience driving large sized, non-standard vehicles, preferred.

Ability to work with varying demographics, including international cultures, required.

Current Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or valid Colorado driver's license and ability to obtain a CDL within six weeks of hire, required.

Ability to successfully pass a post-offer physical and drug screen, required.

Fluency in English language required; fluency in conversational Spanish language, preferred.

Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.

Knowledge of informational databases, preferred.

Intermediate technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Outlook, required.

Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred.

Ability to be mobile 100% of the time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push a loaded wheeled book truck weighing up to 100 pounds and ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted, regularly and up to 50 pounds assisted occasionally required.

Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and have fun.

Ability to exercise confidence and excitement in the vast technological and online resources the Library District has available.

Ability to provide intermediate advisory services to patrons in all collection formats and genres, and advanced advisory services in one area of choice.

Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, including mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
