Job Description

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

Duties:  Provide professional research assistance during scheduled business hours; conduct research in response to patron requests. Assist with archival workshops or programs. Apply archival best practices, records preservation, and research techniques and records management principles.  Arranges, evaluates, classifies and determines logical organization of analog and digital records.  Locates information and documents using finding aides and guides; develops listings, indices and guides; assesses preservation and storage requirements; provides research and/or reference services; inventorying records and appraising legal, historical, and/or administrative significance and value.


Training to develop records management programs with state agencies and political subdivisions. Provides micrographic services. Counsel agencies when microfilming or digital storage is a viable option. Define quality requirements of microforms through use of standards that are processed by ANSI (American National Standard institute). Counsels in establishing, revising, and evaluating micrographic storage for state agencies, local governments, school districts, special districts and vendors concerning records retention and disposition; statutes, policies and standards for records preservation; micrographic systems, digital retention systems and similar topics.  Create, organize, catalog/describe and publish digitized and born digital records; use meta data standards relevant to the archival control of digital collections.  Assume lead responsibilities in special projects; and perform other job duties as assigned.
