Reports to: Manager of Community Partnerships
Position: 40hpw full-time, non-exempt
Hiring Range: $19.13 - $23.93 per hour
Role: Develops, administers, and coordinates the effective District-wide recruitment and use of volunteer talent, including the Friends of the Library, as a community resource that supplements and complements those of library staff. Also provides logistical support for community partnerships and the cafés.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
30% VOLUNTEER COORDINATION – Recruits and administers volunteer talent and services for the District. Works with management to determine volunteer staffing requirements and placement, and makes recommendations on volunteer staffing needs, new volunteer opportunities or improvements in the existing opportunities to the Manager. Actively recruits volunteers, designs recruitment materials and strategies, and coordinates with staff and volunteers in the planning and implementing of recruitment activities. Works closely with staff to develop volunteer job descriptions and meaningful volunteer opportunities. Conducts trainings for staff supervising volunteers. Reviews prospective volunteer applications, conducts initial interviews, background checks and makes recommendations for placement. Designs and implements appropriate volunteer recognition. Maintains volunteer databases and submits regular statistical summaries of volunteer activities.
30% FRIENDS COORDINATION - Coordinates Friends used book stores and sales by recruiting and training volunteers, planning with various departments (such as Finance, Communications, Facilities) to support book sales, organizing sales, and tracking budget in order to achieve successful book sales. Builds relationship with Friends Board by assisting with managing Friends resources, book sales, maintaining the Friends membership database, providing logistical support for Friends activities and preparing board packets.
30% PARTNERSHIP SUPPORT – Provides logistical support and coordination of community partnerships by researching potential partners, creating content for collateral materials, staffing special events and, in conjunction with the Communications Department, coordinating the district art galleries. Provides tactical assistance for the Manager by documenting community contacts, corresponding with established partners and prospects, scheduling trainings and supporting the café staff and vendors. Liaisons with community groups to establish roles and determines process and procedures.
10% ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE – Provides administrative support by handling meeting coordination, creating agendas, scheduling meeting areas, researching information, assisting with budget tasks, creating routine and non-routine communication, handling information requests, and reconciling expense reports in order to maximize the effectiveness of the Manager of Community Partnerships

Qualifications:
Two to five years of similar or related experience, required.
Bachelor's degree, required.
Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.
Ability to travel to other work locations, as needed.
Intermediate technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, and DonorPro required.
Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred.
Extensive knowledge of volunteer administration principles and practices necessary to manage a successful volunteer program, especially in a library environment.
Skilled in oral and written communication and demonstrated ability in making effective public presentations.
Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment finding practical solutions in a variety of personnel and program situations.
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature. Work involves motivating and influencing others. Emotional intelligence and outstanding interpersonal skills needed to foster sound relationships with volunteers, Friends and outside organizations.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift boxes of books weighing up to 50 pounds in order to assist with the Friends book sales.
Extensive knowledge of volunteer administration principles and practices necessary to manage a volunteer program, especially in a library environment, preferred.
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to communicate new ideas, products and services in a positive and engaging manner.
Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and have fun.
Ability to successfully work with diverse demographics, required.

The Community
Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, including mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
