We have a wonderful 20-hour per week customer service oriented position right here in Jefferson County. This position will be working in the Columbine Library.

Do you love to lead story times, welcome community members to the library and help them find the answers to their technical and non-technical questions? The Public Services Associate uses high level customer service skills to determine patron needs and creates a positive, inviting atmosphere for patrons of all ages. Interactions include, but are not limited to:
* Working with kids and families
* Leading story times
* Providing reader's advisory assistance
* Providing assistance downloading ebooks and downloadable audio
* Providing assistance opening a library account
* Teaching computer classes

Ability to leap tall buildings and speak Spanish are a plus!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Provides information, referral, and reader's advisory services to patrons in person, by phone, mail and via electronic means. Performs simple to moderately complex research activities; advises patrons on appropriate materials; locates materials through the use of manual and electronic databases in JCPL, other library systems, or other sources. Refers patrons to community resources and other appropriate resources for further information as necessary and advises about online searching. Advises and instructs library patrons in using equipment necessary to access library resources. Conducts library tours and community outreach. Provides library instruction and patron education to the public, individually and in groups. Maintains data pertaining to attendance and program participation. May collect and tabulate statistics and may prepare standardized reports from statistics. May assist in coordinating the work and schedules of ancillary staff and volunteers. Uses high-level customer service skills to determine patron needs and create a positive, inviting atmosphere for all patrons.
