SPANISH FLUENCY REQUIRED
What You’ll Do:
Work at the Rodolfo “Corky” Gonzales Branch Library, 1498 Irving St., to create positive experiences for library customers by providing programming and outreach, designed to promote library usage, to a wide variety of audiences. Provide early literacy outreach to children between the ages of 0-5 years of age, give story times in both English and Spanish and create programming for youth. Provide library services to all ages, including intergenerational and bilingual programming to a diverse customer base that focuses on new immigrants and their families. Assist customers in circulation, reference and readers/media advisory. Oversee library operations as assigned.
You Have:
Knowledge of programming, facilitating group conversations, training and development practices. Skill in designing, preparing, implementing, delivering and evaluating bilingual programs. Skill in presenting information to a diverse range of ages and cultures, both individually and in groups. Skill in choosing appropriate materials for programming and outreach. Skill in reading aloud clearly, concisely and with expression. Ability to exercise initiative, judgment and decision making in meeting organizational objectives. Ability to relate to the needs of customers of all ages and skill levels, including those without English language proficiency. Ability to respond to the immediate needs of under-resourced audiences. Ability to engage with creative modes of expression and to inspire artistic interests of a diverse community. Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds and age groups. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity and a sense of humor in working with customers, coworkers and community. Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Ability to use extensive workplace and other technology including email, internet, databases, eMedia, social media and other software. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study.
Two years of experience teaching or presenting information to children and their caregivers.
Spanish language fluency.
Excellent customer service skills.
We Provide:
$19.39 - $23.85 per hour starting salary range; $19.39 - $28.31 per hour full salary range.
Although the full salary range for this position is provided, starting salary is typically made at or near the range minimum. The City and County of Denver benefit package will be offered.
Regular, full-time, 40 hours per week. The schedule will be determined by the needs of the department and may include evening and weekend hours.
