The Community

Sparkling at the end of Last Chance Gulch, the Lewis & Clark Library is a hub of cultural, recreational and educational activity in Helena, the capital city of Montana. Remodeled in 2004, the building is full of light and staffed by an amazing team of caring, passionate, forward-thinking professionals who are really smart and slightly obsessive about the role of Library in our community and in the world. Lewis & Clark Library passed a permanent continuing mill levy in June 2008 and is well supported by the community. The Library was recently awarded the 2014 Will Eisner Graphic Novel Innovation Grant for Libraries and has received eight annual NEA Big Read Grants in a row.

The Lewis & Clark Library offers generous benefits including health, dental, vision and life insurance, matching retirement funds, paid holidays, sick leave & vacation time. We have 3 branch libraries and recently added a Bookmobile which was an instant hit with the community.
