Job Description

The University of Denver Libraries is seeking an innovative, dynamic, and collaborative professional for the position of Music and Performing Arts Reference Librarian. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Student and Scholar Services.

 

The Music and Performing Arts Reference Librarian administers the day-to-day operations and management of staff at the Bonfils Stanton Music Library at the Lamont School of Music. This position is the point person for reference and instruction services to students, faculty, and other members of the University community at the branch library. Participating fully as part of the reference and collection development teams, the person in this position also serves as the liaison to select performing arts disciplines, including theatre, with responsibility for the provision of research services, instruction, and collection development in those areas. As a member of the reference team, the librarian will be scheduled to provide in-depth consultations for topics across the disciplines, teach information literacy workshops in assigned disciplines, and participate in instructional programming for first-year foundational courses. This position is responsible for building collections to meet the research and curricular needs of students and faculty in music and theatre, and for managing the collections budgets in the areas assigned. This position is also responsible for selecting materials and advocating for the use of performing arts and dance special collections and participating in the Friends of Carson-Brierly-Giffin Dance Board. The librarian actively engages in scholarly activities through research and publication and participates in professional organizations, as well as library and campus committees. Finally, the librarian intentionally integrates diversity and inclusiveness into all aspects of the library. The Music and Performing Arts Reference Librarian may also serve on committees and teach courses in the Lamont School of Music, with the appropriate qualifications. This position also supervises several staff members.
