Job Description

Looking for a chance to be more than a story time star? Want to share your encyclopedic knowledge of children’s literature? Want to integrate new technologies and new experiences into library services? The Englewood Public Library has a position designed for an enthusiastic leader who can make the children’s library a cornerstone of the community. Yes, there will be in-house programs and story times, but you will also take the library to the kids. We’re a small library dedicated to experimentation and growth and we are looking for someone to be a part of our next generation of fun-loving librarians. Come visit our newly renovated Children’s Library and see for yourself all that Englewood has to offer. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Provides assistance to guests using library-supported technologies and resources and offers basic training in use of new and emerging devices and digital resources.  Guides people to information and resources that meet their individual needs. Stays abreast of new publications, information resources, and creative works in a wide variety of formats.

Designs, delivers and evaluates programs, services and experiences that bring people together with shared interests and needs, including support of early childhood literacy.

Understands and is knowledgeable about the City of Englewood and the surrounding community.  Cooperates and builds partnerships with schools, businesses, other City departments, civic and community groups to leverage library assets.

Creatively promotes and markets library resources, programs and services.

Acts as a resource for non-professional staff through consultation, mentoring and training. Actively pursues professional development opportunities and participates in professional organizations.  Acts as Librarian on Duty when requested.

Other Duties & Responsibilities:
May recruit, train and coordinate volunteer activities.

May support local history information, programming and collection development.

May represent the Library at community or professional events and meetings. Stays informed about City and community issues.

May help maintain up-to-date information on policies and procedures for both guest and staff access. Ensures work area, equipment and supplies are well maintained.

Performs other duties as assigned.È

The City of Englewood is centrally located within the Denver Metropolitan area. Just south of Denver, Englewood is ideally situated for citizens, business people, and visitors. Englewood offers a small town atmosphere of community with all the benefits of a larger metropolitan area nearby.
