Job Description

The Digital Collections Librarian works under the Electronic Services Librarian to provide support for RUDR, the Regis University Digital Repository. This person works closely with the Digital Systems Librarian and uploads digital content to the repository, develops appropriate metadata, determines access controls, sets work priorities and identifies new projects based on user needs.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assists in daily operations of the digital repository. This includes file loads, metadata record creation, and other system maintenance. Provides statistics for digital repository usage. 
2. Serves as library liaison for the Regis online theses and final projects. Interfaces with graduate department liaisons to receive and process theses/final projects via documented thesis/capstone workflow Checks for correct forms, scans and uploads files to the digital repository. Coordinates with staff in Technical Services to create MARC records. 
3. Identifies and prioritizes new projects. Interfaces with multiple stakeholders throughout the University to digitize, describe, upload and preserve a variety of university digital assets. 
4. Assists in developing educational and training materials for digital repository use. 
5. Explores emerging technologies and standards for preservation, description and access of digital assets.

Minimum Qualifications

1. ALA-accredited Master’s degree in library science or equivalent advanced degree. Relevant experience in an academic library. 
2. Experience or training with electronic media and varying digital file formats, especially in the area of access.
3. Minimum two years experience in a library or related academic setting.
4. Experience working with a digital repository and digital preservation; experience with Drupal and Fedora open source software preferred.
5. Knowledge of multiple non-MARC metadata standards including Dublin Core,EADMODSMETSLOM, and VRA. Basic knowledge of cataloging standards for bibliographic and authority formats (including MARC and RDA) preferred.
6. Familiarity with linked data and semantic web concepts and techniques for search engine optimization.
7. Experience with MarcEdit, html, xhtml, css, xml, and xslt preferred.
8. Strong verbal and written skills.
9. Must be exceptionally service-oriented.
