  • Provide information, advice, and counsel to the Presidents of the Boards, Board Committees, and the Advisory and Governing Boards in the creation of policies, programs, and strategic directions of the organization.
  • Scan the environment for trends and represent MELSA's interests with the State Library Agency, Metronet, the Council of Regional Public Library System Administrators (CRPLSA), and other appropriate metro, state and federal agencies.
  • Communicate effectively and develop relationships with state and federal legislators, working with member libraries and the Minnesota Library Association's Legislative Committee on development and support of library laws and funding.

The Community

The Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA) is an alliance of over 100 public libraries in the seven-county Twin Cities metro, working together to bring the best library services and programs to you. MELSA’s role is a hub for library collaboration that ensures more unified, transparent services for our Library customers. The organization provides leadership to help libraries figure out how to work together to reduce costs, learn from each other, and wrestle with complex issues. Our goal is to create a greater understanding among stakeholders of the value of our member libraries’ services.
