Job Description

Respond and provide assistance to library customers in the use of library services and equipment; participate in developing, preparing, coordinating, scheduling and providing special library programs for children including Every Child Ready to Read workshops at Library Branches; participate in outreach opportunities for day care centers, church and civic groups, the Metropolitan Detention Center, and other interested groups.

Additional Info & Requirements

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:  Operations, services and activities of a municipal library.  Principles of efficient and effective customer services.  Available library resources including the reference collection, serials collection and other online resources.

PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:  Prepared and coordinate children's library programs.  Responde to requests and inquiries from the general public. Work independently in the absence of supervision.

The Community

Albuquerque is the largest city in New Mexico with a population of more than 550,000. Albuquerque is home to the University of New Mexico (UNM), Kirtland Air Force Base, Sandia National Laboratories, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, and Petroglyph National Monument. The Sandia Mountains run along the eastern side of Albuquerque, and the Rio Grande flows through the city, north to south.

Posession of a New Mexico Driver's License (Class D) or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
