Job Description

DUTIES: This full-time/second shift (evening) position exists to serve the patrons of the Colorado State University-Pueblo library. Circulate materials to all patrons including sensitizing/de-sensitizing. Oversee and provide limited training for work-study students at both circulation and reference desks. Assist patrons with directional, general information and limited reference questions, including assisting patrons on how to retrieve materials. Close circulation and reference departments and library building as directed by procedures manual. Calculate fines of overdue materials, notify patrons of fines. Process reserve materials, in both paper and electronic formats. Aid patrons in the operation of the copier and copy card machine, including adding toner. Examine stacks for order/availability, assess materials for repair. Print out daily/monthly statistical reports for the department. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

NOTE: The schedule for this position will be 1:00pm - 10:00pm Sunday through Thursday. You must be willing to accept these hours in order to be considered for this position. Hours are subject to change. This position will also be responsible for overseeing Library closing procedures. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of general library experience including typing, ordering, preparing, shelving and maintaining library materials. (Part-time experience will be prorated). SUBSTITUTION: One year (30 semester hours) of college course work including six semester hours of library science course work may substitute for the general library experience. (YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS WITH YOUR APPLICATION IF YOU ARE APPLYING USING THIS SUBSTITUTION). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Experience in a library circulation department. 2. Demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. 3. Experience with or knowledge of an automated library system. 4. Experience in a job that required excellent communication skills. 5. Experience in a job that required the ability to work well in a team environment. 6. Experience in a job that required the ability to demonstrate initiative. 7. Previous experience supervising library personnel. 8. Experience opening and closing a library. 9. Experience in a library reference department.
