Job Description

The Auraria Library seeks a graduate student assistant to work approximately 15 hours per week at a beginning salary of $12.50 per hour, depending on experience. Schedule to be negotiated within normal business hours. This position reports to both Education, Research, and Access Services (approximately 9 hrs.) and to Technical Services/Assessment Coordinator (approximately 6 hrs.).

Specific job duties include the following:

  • Assist Assessment Coordinator with gathering, inputting, and organizing data using excel or other software.
  • Train and monitor student worker in managing/shelving the Reference Collection.
  • Receive Government Documents (Federal and Colorado); calculate monthly statistics. This includes processing and checking in new government publications.
  • Calculate and manage the student budget, including ensuring all time sheets are signed, accurate and turned in on time. 
  • Coordinate with personnel at CU Boulder and the State Library in processes related to Government Documents (Federal and State).
  • Keep up-to-date on new information and complete any surveys or forms required by GPO to maintain depository status
  • May assist with reference triage and in any special projects for the library in general as needed​

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to take direction, think critically, and use judgment.
  • Intermediate skill in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Ability to develop an understanding of and to use the Library of Congress classification system.
  • Ability to develop intermediate skill in using an integrated library system including searching, identifying correct records, and learning specifics about coded information within bibliographic, order, check-in, and item records.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills including good internal and external customer service skills.
  • Ability to reach, unpack materials, shelve books, push book carts, and other physical activity as required.
