DIRECTOR OF LIBRARY SERVICES

Colorado Heights University is a private, non-profit international university specializing in educating international and local students seeking to be productive global citizens. CHU is distinguished by its small class size, international student population and nationally accredited curriculum.

CHU seeks an enthusiastic and experienced individual with a cooperative work style to serve as the Director of Library Services.
The Director of Library Services for Colorado Heights University (CHU) is primarily responsible to provide innovative technology, unrestricted access to information, and the instructional resources necessary to enlighten and empower CHU’s students, staff, and community to achieve their educational, professional, and personal goals. The Library serves both in-person and online learners. The Director provides leadership, direction and coordination of all library services and resources. Managing student personnel, this person leads efforts towards a learning commons model with an emphasis on digital resources and emerging technologies. This person is responsible for overseeing library services, coordinating strategic planning and assessment, hiring library hourly staff and student workers and managing the library budget while sustaining a service-oriented and innovative library to support teaching and learning. The continued growth and development of essential library services will be a priority. This is a half time, 20 hour per week position. Required Education and Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited college or university.
• Three years of progressively responsible library work, two of which are in an academic library
• Three years of supervisory experience
• One year of experience managing a budget

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of all aspects of library services including reference, circulation, cataloging, e-books, e-reserves, digital resources and learning object repositories
• Experience using existing and emerging technologies to provide and enhance library and information services
• Competence with digital tools and services and the ability to learn quickly
• Awareness of changing trends in the academic library field
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral and highly developed interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management

Salary: $28k to $32k DOE
