Experience:    Progressively responsible library experience, including at least two years of supervisory responsibilities

Education:      MLS/MLIS Required

Hours:            Full Time, 40 hours

LSSI is seeking a forward thinking Access Services Coordinator for the Jackson County Public Library System.  It is ideal for an energetic early/mid-career librarian with a passion for exceptional library service.  The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of sound public library management principles, best practices, trends, and current professional theories.  Ability to exercise good judgment, along with the ability to communicate effectively and positively with library staff and the public.  Ability to lead and inspire staff with creative new ideas for enhancing library services.

The position’s primary responsibilities are:

  • Ensure customer-service focus and orientation of the Jackson County Public Libraries
  • Oversee Technical Services
  • Coordinate Circulation Services and ILS staff training, support and system upgrades
  • Support systemwide staff schedule planning
  • Assist with systemwide volunteer coordination
  • Assist with collection development and public service desk hours
  • Supervise assigned staff members
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • MLS/ MLIS Required
  • Ability to operate with minimum supervision and work in a team environment to build partnerships, find solutions and make service enhancements
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with proven ability to motivate and lead others
  • Public library hands-on experience and supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to make sound management decisions, exercising good judgment dealing with people and situations
  • Ability to connect positively with library and community constituencies including library staff, library patrons and the general public
  • Experience in working as part of a team

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Technical Services and Circulation Service required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which will involve local travel and include some weekend and evening work
