Job Description

Position Description: This 12 month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor is a member of the Library’s Information Management Team, responsible for ensuring that print, audiovisual, and digital resources are properly inventoried, organized, cataloged, and housed. Manage and provide support for administrative portion of library automated system. Provide reference service; teach library classes, serve as a liaison to assigned University departments, and engage in scholarship and service. Responsibilities: The Cataloging/Systems Librarian/Instructor will perform the following duties: • Administration o Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate classified and/or contract staff in assigned departments o Develop and communicate departmental goals and objectives to staff o Create and maintain job descriptions, policies, and procedures for department o Provide backup for staff when needed o Set goals and create plans for department • Cataloging/Metadata o Perform original cataloging and/or create metadata for unique materials such as theses, archival materials or digital collections using MARC, DC, or other appropriate metadata schema o Supervise copy cataloging and holdings record creation for all print, digital, archival and multimedia content according to nationally accepted standards o Provide authority control and database maintenance of the online catalog and other database systems including an institutional repository o Collaborate with CSU Fort Collins to implement and maintain shared institutional repository o Provide leadership in the development of new processes and tools for the organization and description of library content o Maintain statistics describing the collections and their usage o Assist with inventorying of collection at regular intervals • System administrator for library automated system(s) o Maintain staff accounts and oversee other administrative functions for library catalog systems (currently Dynix Horizon) o Collaborate with other library departments to develop, maintain, and improve library catalog systems o Collaborate with vendors to customize library catalog systems as necessary o Coordinate catalog upgrades with vendor, ITS, and appropriate library departments o Provide catalog systems training for all library staff as needed o Provide reports for library administrative needs o Coordinate import and export of library patron data with campus administrative systems o Troubleshoot and solve problems with systems as necessary o Provide support for and coordinate training for Pueblo City Schools in the use and implementation of the shared integrated library system • Provide reference and instruction services, including some nights and weekends. o Provide one-on-one assistance at reference desk. o Provide virtual reference services as scheduled. o Perform specialized database searching as needed. o Teach courses for library instruction program including, but not limited to, classes in the liaison area. • Serve as liaison to one or more academic departments, helping to coordinate collection management and instruction for the assigned subject areas. • Perform sustained inquiry into discipline leading to practical application within the library as well as research resulting in published or presented scholarly or creative output. • Serve the Library, the University, and the profession through active membership on boards, committees, panels, etc.
