Job Description

The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries invites applications from innovative and enthusiastic service-oriented professionals for the position of Science & Engineering Librarian. This is a one-year contract position and is part of a team of liaison librarians who work across three libraries to support the teaching and research enterprises in the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Engineering & Applied Sciences, as well as several research institutes and centers.  This individual’s liaison activities will focus on providing instruction and outreach activities to the undergraduate populations of Engineering, Physics, and Mathematics, including maintaining and establishing partnerships with student support service units in these disciplines, supporting student retention efforts, and engaging underrepresented student bodies. The successful candidate may also assist in website content migration and other duties as assigned.  Liaison librarians at the University of Colorado Boulder Libraries are responsible for providing a full suite of services, including reference, instruction, and consultation in scholarly communication issues.  

Appointment and Salary:  The successful candidate will be appointed as a temporary, full-time lecturer at an annual salary of $41,000.  This is a one-year appointment.  Benefits include eligibility for the University group health care plan.  This is a temporary position without funding to support relocation.

Position Requirements:  Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school; coursework and/or experience with library instruction or teaching; coursework and/or experience in providing reference; awareness of relevant information technologies; demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively; strong interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications:  One-two years of teaching and/or outreach experience in an academic library; undergraduate or graduate degree in the sciences or engineering, or equivalent experience; potential for research, scholarly work, and/or professional achievement.
