Job Description

The Clinical Librarian collaborates with and lends support to clinical departments, graduate medical education, and individual clinical professionals, trainees, and students within the CU AMC and UCH, and is pivotal to defining and expanding the Library’s role in supporting the clinical mission of the university. With a demonstrated understanding of the work of the clinical enterprise, the Clinical Librarian develops and provides training and professional library services in the use of clinical knowledge management, information and data resources, and supports clinical research and data management. This position will work both as a team member and independently. The Clinical Librarian may also provide database searches and support for AMC family practitioners affiliated with the Family Physicians Inquiries Network (FPIN) program.

Responsibilities include:
- Build on collaborative relationships with clinicians and allied health professionals;
- Attend hospital rounds, report, case conferences, and other clinically-relevant forums, and provide information as requested using current technology and resources;
- Collaborate with key constituents on journal clubs, seminars, quality improvement projects, and other clinically focused projects;
- Play a lead role in development and implementation of consultation services for clinical data access, management, and preservation;

- Provide clinicians with training and guidance on the appropriate use of electronic collaboration and workflow management tools to support team-based research activities;
-As  a member of the Education & Reference team, participate in Ask Us service; suggest, create, and teach library-related classes; consult with individuals and small groups; participate in the library liaison program; and assist in developing policies, setting priorities, and recommending improvements to the overall provision of core and emerging education and reference services;
- Perform professional fee-based bibliographic literature searches using library databases, the web, and other resources;
- Monitor trends in health sciences and clinical librarianship, as well as monitor changes in health sciences information resources;
- Cultivate partnerships and collaborate with library, university, and hospital personnel on projects including grants, papers, poster presentations, or other creative undertaking;
- Represent the library on university, state, and regional committees and consortia.
