Job Description
What You'd Do:
Work at the one or several of the 26 Library locations supporting program staff in the specialized facilitation of activities that engage diverse populations including but not limited to: language conversation, creative expression, citizenship and general daily life topics geared towards self-sufficiency. Follow instructions of the program team in order to help facilitate informational and practical programming through informal methods and inclusive approaches. Assist in arranging room and program spaces from set up to clean up.
You Have:
Skill in developing insights into newcomers’ changing trends. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to work with inter-generational audiences, individually or in small work group environments. Ability to engage in a multi-lingual environment. Ability to transition into a variety of activities as requested by participants and program team. Ability to assist in arranging program spaces from set up to clean up. Ability to facilitate connections for newcomers in a respectful manner. Ability to demonstrate positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity in working with customers, coworkers, volunteers and community. Ability to use basic workplace technology including email, internet and automated software. Ability to pass a background check after the offer to hire has been made.
Skill in speaking a second language (Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic or Amharic preferred).
A desire to work with intergenerational groups in a multi-lingual environment.
