Job Description

Provide a consistent quality customer experience in core library services on the phone, in person, and on the web. Develop, coordinate and deliver core library services. Expend/audit system resources with limited budgetary and decision-making authority over those resources. Supervise volunteers under their area of responsibility and coordinate with staff system-wide. Coordinate access to resources, including the physical and virtual resources of the system. Responsible for maintaining partnerships and relationships in the community through outreach. Position must be familiar with laws governing patron privacy and confidentiality under CRS24-90-119, and the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association, as well as ADA governing public access to space and technology.

Key Focus Areas:
*The Programming/Partnerships Coordinator understands the individual and collective needs of our communities and delivers engaging experiences through system wide and local programming, including but not limited to: summer reading initiatives, maker spaces and STEAM programming, media labs, programs that foster civic engagement, author events, literacy initiatives and vendor fairs.

*The Programming/Partnerships Coordinator will help plan, design, implement, promote, and evaluate all aspects of JCPL’s programs and partnerships. The Coordinator will have an eye toward creating and branding programming initiatives so that they are consistent with JCPL strategic priorities and will serve as a resource to staff in designing such initiatives.

 * The Programming/Partnerships Coordinator cultivates and works closely with community partners who share a common customer with the library. This includes establishing and sustaining strong relationships with government, education, corporate and non-profit entities in an effort to make the library a key partner in the civic life of Jefferson County residents.

Supervision and Training - Hires, assigns, trains, orients, and supervises volunteers in area of responsibility, including coaching on industry best practices. Creates and maintains a flexible environment for implementing new library services and trends. Recommends routine personnel matters affecting volunteers, including interviewing applicants, evaluating performance, and taking corrective action. Prepares and submits routine reports as necessary for library management. Participates with others in cross-functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives. Anticipates and solves problems as non-routine situations arise. Supports adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards. Communicates changes in policy and procedures to volunteers and implements them as directed.

Delivers Consistent Quality Customer Experience - Communicate expectations to staff about library service and trends in customer service. Models best behavior practice for customer service. Creates condition for a quality customer experience in their core service system-wide. Recommends library resources, including physical and virtual, so that residents have equal access to information and ideas. Implements industry best practices for merchandising, labeling, and promoting library resources as directed. Implements quality assurance methods in programs presented system-wide. Coordinates promotion of programs to target audiences. Routinely provides direct customer service, occasionally in non-routine situations. Conducts outreach into the community as directed. Maintains a safe environment for staff and public.
Create, Coordinate & Implement Core Library Service - Coordinates system-wide services in core library functions. Communicates expectations to staff about library service and trends in customer services. Participates with others in cross-functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives and coordinates these teams in area of focus. Applies input from community for creating and implementing system-services using established industry benchmarks. Applies established industry benchmarks in service creation and provision as directed. Maintains current knowledge of trends in libraries and related fields to create new services for development and implementation system-wide. Provides quality assurance in programs presented in their area of responsibility, including off-site locations. Coordinates promotion of programs to target audiences. Routinely provides direct customer service.

Planning and Budgeting - Provides input for core service budget and audits spending per established procedures and limits. Participates in annual planning for library services. Provides input for anticipated local and system needs. Communicates goals and strategic priorities to staff system-wide and volunteers under their supervision.

Other - Participates in special assignments such as prototyping new services, supervising short term projects outside typical area of responsibility.

* Masters a clear understanding and appreciation of the unique qualities of county residents both collectively and as members of individual communities.

* Develops, coordinates, and delivers quality programs through collaboration with staff and community
partners.

* Ensures quality programming by gathering community input, developing clear goals and outcomes, and setting effective timelines.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and 1-3 years related experience.
Education and experience in area of core function. Driver's License and clear driving record required. Must be able to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
