The Company:
Compendium Library Services began in 2005, and librarians have chosen Desk Tracker as their public service statistics solution because of its customizable forms, powerful reporting, and full support by Compendium. Knowledge Tracker was launched a few years later, a collaborative project between the University of Chicago and Compendium. Now our new products, Desk Tracker Plus and Desk Tracker Live, bring statistics together with patron request handling, surveys and announcements, and real-time monitoring and alerts, for a comprehensive cloud-based management solution. Our products are subscription-based and hosted for easy-to-use SAAS solutions in the Cloud. Our subscribers include public and special libraries, and academic institutions from research universities to technical colleges, in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Job Purpose / Overview:
The Director of Sales/Support will secure new sales / first-year subscriptions and successfully communicate with potential and new subscribers through cold calls, emails, webinars, conferences, meetings, and seminars. The Director will also provide technical support to subscribers by phone, email, and web meeting.
Responsibilities:
• Securing, tracking, billing, and follow-up with all new sales / first-year subscribers.
• Communicating with prospects and potential subscribers through cold calls, emails, webinars, conferences, and seminars.
• Networking with librarians and field professionals to share positive experiences with Compendium's products and services.
• Participate and/or lead webinars, conferences and seminars for trials, new sales, renewing and first-year subscribers.
• Prove effective sales by securing an agreed-upon annual quota.
• Contribute to effective marketing, PR and advertising projects for new sales.
• Track all new sales and prospects through existing systems.
• Create quarterly and annual sales reports for all new sales and first-year subscribers.
• Provide technical support and answer questions by phone, email or web meeting.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years sales experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Experience with libraries, education organizations, publishers, or other business enterprises required
- Ability to work independently and meet monthly quotas
- Proven history of success in working with sales
- Experience and ease with cold calling and lead generation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in networking for lead generation and connections
- Experience in sales techniques such as sales plans, tracking and presentations (live, in-person, recorded, online, conferences, etc)
- Experience in working with office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must have high-speed internet connecting with ability to utilize webinars, social media, and presentation software
- Exhibit strong organization skills for sales tracking and effective communication
- Strong work ethic and superior customer service
- Willingness to learn and exhibit flexibility in all areas of work
- Ability to travel periodically to conferences, seminars, and workshops

Additional Info & Requirements
Position Type: Contractor (1099)
Location: Flexible
Base Salary: $30-40k (Negotiable, depending on qualifications) plus commissions
