Pueblo City County Library District is seeking a part-time 30 hours/week, Adult Services Librarian is to establish themselves as the point of contact that provides technology expertise and training to customers and staff.  This position works closely with the Technology Trainer to ensure that all staff are able to assist customers in the use of the Library’s e-services and devices as well as other technology resources.

Who does the Adult Services Librarian work with?

The Adult Services Librarian reports to the Manager of the R&RA department and works with a district-wide focus.   This position involves extensive interactions with district wide staff, customers, the IT department, co-workers and technology vendors and resources.  Work requires the ability to teach adults using a variety of learning models.   Must possess excellent communication skills, diplomacy and the ability to resolve customer complaints.  The position provides excellent customer service demonstrating the ability to communicate effectively with people regardless of age, race, sexual orientation, ability level or background.

What does the Adult Services Librarian do?

Stays abreast of new technologies and library trends and assesses the feasibility of adoption by the Library District.

Provides public service coverage for approximately 40% of hours worked. Engages in facilitated customer service to provide service at the point of need by providing readers advisory, research, assistance using library resources; suggests outside resources for teens, parents, teachers and community members. 

Serves as a main point of contact for staff and customers seeking assistance with public computer services, digital and emerging technologies. 

Develops and coordinates the "Book-a-Librarian" program for the District, providing one-on-one meetings with customers as needed.

Serves as the primary interface for the Library District to perform research into emerging technologies and identify how their use may be applied to PCCLD services and collections.

Identifies staff and customer needs in regards to digital and emerging technologies and develops strategies to meet those needs including developing teaching aids and tools.

Provides technology assistance and works closely with the Technology Trainer to introduce new technologies to library staff, volunteers and customers at all library locations.

Assists customers with performing research into digital and new technology inquiries including software, applications, publishing vendors, operating systems and hardware.

Coordinates with Community Relations in creating user tools and brochures on how to use PCCLD’s technology resources.

Monitors incoming reference requests via email and phone. 

Provides general reference assistance by helping customers locate materials, answers questions, places holds, completes forms, confers with other staff and makes referrals to other organizations and agencies; instructs customers in the use of print and on-line materials, equipment, and technologies. 

Resolves customer issues and communicates library policies and procedures to customers.

Supports team efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and staff by maintaining awareness of surroundings and working in accordance with safety policies and procedures.

Participates in regularly scheduled department meetings.  Attends All Staff Development Days and other training sessions to acquire new skills and to stay current on all information that is pertinent to PCCLD.

Reads daily organizational communications from intranet, e-mail, newsletters and print announcements.  Stays current on all library services, programs and events throughout the district. Regularly accesses electronic time keeping, payroll and personnel employee access systems.

Occasionally is assigned to the role of Supervisor in Charge for the Rawlings Library including oversight of safety, building security and of the security guard on duty.

Performs other duties as assigned.
