Job Description

Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. Invites applications for a University Archivist/Library Department Chair, full professor, tenured faculty position, 1.0 FTE. Responsible for management of university archives and leadership of faculty within the library. ALA-accredited M.L.S. or equivalent terminal degree; formal archival training or education; demonstrated knowledge of archival theory and practice; minimum of five years of professional academic experience; experience with information technology applications in an archives or library environment, including imaging and editing technology; experience cultivating donors; supervisory and/or team management experience; professional record of scholarly, professional, and research activity that merits a tenured appointment as a full professor; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Serves as leader among the faculty in developing strong student advising, teaching, research, public service and academic programs within the Library, and is responsible to the Dean in matters of selection, retention, tenure, promotion and work assignments of faculty. Supervisory and/or team management experience; Professional record of scholarly, professional, and research activity that merits a tenured appointment as a full professor; Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; Interest in and willingness to meet the criteria of, and to participate in, the university's peer review process, in accordance with the university’s standards for reappointment, promotion, tenure and post-tenure review.

Preferred Education, Experience & Competencies:  Certified Archivist with familiarity with principles of records management.
Academic archival experience; Understanding and familiarity of EAD and/or Dublin Core cataloging format; understanding of intellectual property and copyright issues pertaining to special collections and records management; Experience with budgeting, strategic planning, and assessment programs.
Experience in providing training, presentations, and instruction to individuals, small groups, or formal course instruction; Experience working in an environment with represented union membership; Success in securing and managing grants; Additional advanced subject degree(s).
