Job Description

Are you creative, organized and energetic? Do you have a passion for developing fun and engaging programming and services for teens? If you answered yes, we have an opening for a Teen Services Outreach Librarian!

The Teen Services Outreach Librarian delivers outreach services throughout Jefferson County to teens and groups that service teens. The successful candidate will effectively partner with outside organizations, JCPL staff and teens to deliver system wide services, programs, readers advisory services, and resources serving teens. The candidate will serve as a spokesperson, presenter and liaison in the community for library related teen resources, services and events. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The teen outreach librarian has a passion for working with youth. This position is responsible for providing community outreach, both in person and digitally throughout Jefferson County. They cultivate contacts with educators, community stakeholders, other libraries, and organizations. They serve as advocates that market teen library services in the community, at county events and within the library system. They participate with others in cross functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives for the library system.

They develop, coordinate and present unique programs of interest to teens, including classes, and workshops. They have a strong knowledge of teen literature, and are adept at performing readers’ advisory for teens. They contribute to library resources for teens including, physical and digital. This includes contributing to social media efforts, coordinating teen digital presence and providing selection ideas for teen materials.
