Public Services/Open Access Librarian
Washburn University invites applications for a Public Services/Open Access Librarian position. The University Libraries seeks applicants who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and who seek to assume a leadership role in its First-Year Experience Program, emphasizing the transition of students into Washburn University. A successful candidate for this full-time, 12-month position will teach credit-bearing courses on information literacy, coordinate curriculum-integrated information literacy instruction, develop instruction programs, and provide reference service to patrons at the desk and as point-of-need reference. Successful candidate will serve as a subject matter liaison with responsibility for collection development and participate in the provision of research services to library users on-site and at a distance (some evening and/or weekend hours required). The successful applicant will demonstrate an interest in teaching and reference service as well as a strong commitment to student learning and the application of technology in the effective design and delivery of instruction. The successful candidate will serve as a campus resource for identifying and employing Open Access materials for classroom use. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a rapidly changing, culturally diverse environment will be a strong focus as the Washburn Libraries pursue their future in the 21st century learning environment.
Requirements:
• An ALA-accredited master degree in Library or Information Science
• Experience or course work that demonstrate familiarity with ACRL Standards for Libraries in Higher Education
Preferred:
• An additional Master’s degree in any subject
• Experience demonstrated by course work or classroom experience in reference/library instruction and teaching
• Experience designing and managing courses using course management systems
• Experience with assessment of student learning
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
