Job Summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a qualified Coordinator, Digital Learning Initiatives to join a creative, talented and entrepreneurial team within the Office of Digital Education & Innovation (DEI) digitaleducation.umich.edu/ that is shaping the digital learning landscape at U-M and beyond.

The Coordinator, Digital Learning Initiatives reports to the Director, Digital Learning Initiatives for DEI and works closely with faculty, instructional designers, instructional technologists, and digital media specialists to manage digital course operations and initiatives at the Digital Education & Innovation Lab. This new position is an exciting role, working within a startup environment to develop, support and launch new digital learning initiatives through collaboration with the world-class faculty of the University of Michigan.

Responsibilities*

-Collaborate with faculty and design teams to develop strategies for delivery of digital learning content for online and residential initiatives.
-Provide support and coordination for DEI courses and initiatives including recommending technical solutions, outreach support and contributions to the design of user oriented learning experiences.
-Act as Project Manager for digital courses and course operations personnel to ensure the timely delivery and consistency of instructional materials, assessments and engagement tools available for students of online and blended courses.
-Create, disseminate and maintain resources, policies and procedures for faculty to provide guidance and aid in the creation of digital course materials.
-Supervise course support staff, providing ongoing information and strategies to aid course support staff in the support of online courses.
-Ensure that the digital content of DEI initiatives complies with DEI policies and practices including copyright regulations and accessibility regulations.
-Assist with digital media production related work and responsibilities, including webcasting and video production.
-Participate in conversations on campus around digital learning, instructional design, project management and other topics related to carrying out the vision and mission of the Office of Digital Education & Innovation.

Required Qualifications*

-Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of related experience (educational technology, instructional design, information science) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Demonstrated experience with effective project management practices.
-Ability to analyze and align technology solutions with instructional need; current educational and technological trends; and goals and infrastructure.
-Knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques, technology and standards of digital education.
-Strong commitment to problem solving, teamwork and the ability to act independently.
-Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
-Ability to manage workload under time constraints and conflicting demands.
-Ability to work well in a multicultural and collaborative environment.

Desired Qualifications*

-Demonstrated experience working with faculty in a higher education setting to disseminate digital educational content. 
-Experience with web delivery tools and languages like HTML, CSS and digital media platforms.
-Knowledge of online and hybrid teaching, including instructional design theory and blended delivery.
-Understanding of copyright and accessibility regulations in a higher education setting.
-Familiarity with: Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs), Open Educational Resources (OER), Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Coursera and Canvas, and other educational platforms.
-Some supervisory experience
