Job Description
The University of Northern Colorado Libraries seek a creative, dynamic, emerging leader for the position of Assistant Dean of University Libraries. The successful candidate for this position will provide forward-thinking, collaborative, and results-oriented leadership for the Libraries through planning, implementation, and oversight of library technologies, user services, and space utilization. The Assistant Dean coordinates assessment activities and compiles and manages statistics to document the value and impact of the Libraries and to insure effective programs, services, and spaces to meet evolving user needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with Libraries and Information Management and Technology personnel to manage library systems software and hardware for patron and staff use
- Provide leadership in delivery of user services and managing library space in the main library
- Coordinate the Libraries multi-faceted assessment activities
- Provide leadership for the advancement and marketing of the Libraries
- Prepare reports to inform decision-making, utilizing statistics and data related to the Libraries initiatives and activities
- Oversee and coordinate the work of the Collection Services Department, Access Services Department, and the library system specialist
The successful candidate must have highly effective interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work collaboratively. Reporting to the Dean of University Libraries, this individual will be a core member of the Libraries’ senior management team. This is a 12-month, administrative exempt position; academic rank and tenure eligibility will be based on qualifications and experience.
Additional Info & Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Earned master’s degree from an ALA-accredited library school or program
- Five years of progressively responsible academic library experience two of which should be at the managerial level
- Experience managing applications of technology to library services and operations
- Experience with assessment in a library setting
PREFERRED:
- Experience in delivery of user services
- Demonstrated analytical skills
- Experience marketing library services
- Proven record of working with multiple stakeholders to implement innovative services or technologies
- Experience applying statistical analysis in a library environment
