The Community

The North Fork Valley, a fertile temperate region on the Western Slope of Colorado in Delta County, lies bounded by mountains, rivers and mesas, and contains the towns of Paonia, Hotchkiss and Crawford.  While each town maintains its own delightful character, all three communities share the qualities that make the area such a beloved place for its residents: a wealth of locally grown fruits, vegetables, and meats; vineyards and wineries; countless outdoor opportunities including hunting, hiking, fishing, bicycling, and boating; year-round social activities and festivals; and a vibrant assortment of artists, ranchers, musicians, intellectuals, farmers, and miners.  Situated about two hours from Aspen, Moab, Grand Junction and Telluride, the North Fork Valley is within easy access of these more famous towns, at the same time preserving its own sense of peace and small-town comfort.

The Library District serves the entire County, and includes five libraries which are vibrant community hubs.  The libraries boast the fastest internet in the area, up-to-date technology, and offer a wide variety of programs and collections for patrons of all ages.
