Job Description

The Boettcher Foundation Library Assistant is a part time, 20 hour per week position. In this role, s/he is responsible for contributing to the day to day operation of the Duncan Center, specifically as a part of the Boettcher Foundation Library.  Areas of responsibility include the information desk, day-to-day maintenance of the print and digital book collection, magazines, and newspapers.  S/he also should work with the other team members to foster a culture of active learning in the Boettcher Foundation Library and the Duncan Center as a whole.  

Duties and Responsibilities
Duncan Center

  • Help to maintain the Duncan Center as a learning commons that welcomes students and provides space for quiet study, collaboration, and instruction

Boettcher Foundation Library

  • Provide one-on-one research help and general academic assistance to students
  • Assist students and teachers in troubleshooting printing problems (or contact the appropriate IIT member for help)
  • Assist teachers and students with checking out collaboration studios
  • Assist teachers and students with finding and checking out library resources
  • Shelve library materials, including books and magazines
  • Create signage (digital and print) and displays
  • Assist with clerical functions including paying library bills, filling out purchase orders, etc.

Additional Info & Requirements

20 hours per week will be determined with the Duncan Center team, but will take place between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm, Monday through Thursday, and 7:30am-4:30pm on Friday, during the school year, during 1 week of spring break, 1 week prior to faculty arriving, and 1 week after faculty leave for the summer.

  • Previous work in library and/or school environment, preferably with teenagers, is desired
  • Must be personable and friendly with students and teachers
  • Basic technology expertise is required
