Job Description

The Learning Resources Specialist usually serves as the first point of contact for patrons and requires excellent customer service skills. Specific job duties include, but are not limited to: actively assisting patrons in finding information using print, electronic, and online resources; assisting patrons with technology and computers; performing all circulation duties including keeping statistics, processing holds and overdues, and maintaining patron records; operating and maintaining interlibrary loan service; assisting with collection maintenance and cataloging duties; providing patron instruction; and participating in the planning and development of library operations and services as part of the curricular life of the college. The incumbent must be able to work a flexible schedule including a minimum of two evenings a week and potentially weekends.

Part Time (.50 FTE), 12 Month Administrative position. Position works 20 hours per week. Schedule includes a minimum of two evenings and potentially weekends.

Additional Info & Requirements

Two years of current library experience in circulation, reference, or adult services. Must possess excellent customer service skills and the ability to work well with diverse populations. Proficient in library system software, Windows, MS Office Suite, internet browsers, library databases, and search engines. Detail your experience in your cover letter or application. Effective oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work independently. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Occasional long and irregular hours necessitated by special projects and compliance with deadlines.
