Reports to: Manager
Position: 40 hours, full-time; exempt
Pay Rate: $58,900.00 – $73,590.00 annually

Role: Assists management by coordinating and implementing decisions in operations and support functions.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

35% SUPERVISION-- Supervises employees by planning, coaching, and reviewing performance, in order to optimize the performance of employees.


 35% COORDINATION – Coordinates implementation of decisions by project planning, leading project teams, developing guidelines, troubleshooting problems, and communicating with stakeholders in order to assist management in facilitating changes in operations and support practices,  with specific emphasis on coordination of Advisory Services.

20% RESEARCH – Researches trends in public library operations and support by performing literature searches, conducting surveys, analyzing information and preparing recommendations in order to provide information for management decision making.

5% CONTINUOUS PROCESS IMPROVEMENT – Evaluates practices by collecting and analyzing data in order to make recommendations that facilitate the continuous improvement of library operations and support processes.

5% LIAISON – Provides input by participating in vendor meetings and conferences and communicating changes in operations and support practices in order to effectively collaborate with Library District business partners.

Qualifications:
Five to ten years of similar or related experience, required.

MLS or MLIS, required.

Two years of previous supervisory experience, required.

Knowledge of informational databases, required.

Advanced technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Outlook, required.

Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills, including responsibility for outcomes, personal productivity, practical thinking, adaptability, coaching, interpersonal skills and business ethics, required.

Ability to organize work, determine priorities, handle multiple tasks, complete projects on time, and problem solve, required.

Ability to travel between facilities, required.

Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.

Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred.

Ability to be mobile 100% of the time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push a loaded wheeled book truck weighing up to 100 pounds and ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted, and up to 50 pounds assisted occasionally, required.

Ability to provide intermediate advisory services to patrons in all collection formats and genres.

Ability to communicate new ideas, products and services in a positive and engaging manner.

Enthusiasm for providing leadership in an environment of constant change.

Ability and eagerness to coordinate all steps of an experimentation process; setup, implementation, feedback and data collection, refinement, analysis, and assessment.

Strong research, data collection, and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive enjoy learning and have fun.

Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a team environment, required.

Ability to exercise confidence and excitement in the vast technological and online resources the Library District has available.

The Community

Established in 1966, the Arapahoe Library District serves more than 200,000 residents living in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County and other major suburban counties make up the greater metropolitan area surrounding Denver, Colorado. The Arapahoe Library District operates eight branch libraries, including mobile library services, and a library at the County Detention Center, funded by the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department. A seven-member Board of Trustees sets the library budget and determines policy.
