ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Supervision and Training:

Hires, assigns, trains, orients, and supervises a team direct reports including three associates and three library pages. Responsibilities of this team include; providing customer service and reference services to patrons, organizing and leading programs at the library, performing programs and outreach in the community, processing materials and maintaining the collection at the location.

Coaching direct reports in their role and to industry best practices, creating and maintaining a flexible environment for implementing new library services and trends, and developing a team environment among staff.

Recommends routine personnel matters affecting direct reports, including interviewing applicants, evaluating performance, and taking corrective action.

Prepares and submits routine reports as necessary for library management.

Participates with other team leaders in cross-functional teams to accomplish system-wide goals and objectives.

Anticipates, assesses and solves problems as non-routine situations arise.

Supports adherences to established policies, procedures, and standards.

Supervises promotion of programs to target audiences.


Customer Service & Outreach

Delivers consistent quality customer experience.

Communicates expectations to staff about library service and trends in customer service.

Models best practices for transformative customer service.

Creates condition for outstanding personalized customer experience in their location.

Routinely provides direct customer service, occasionally in non-routine situations.

Conducts outreach into the community as directed.

Works with patrons in-person, by phone, mail, and email, handling things in a timely manner so that patrons have immediate access to physical and digital resources.

Resolves customer service issues, including handling situations involving law enforcement and first responders. Maintains a safe environment for staff and public.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Intermediate knowledge of the principles of supervision and customer service.
· Knowledge of library integrated systems and library collection development.
· Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
· Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments, including emergency situations.
· Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships.
· Ability to audit local budget.
· Maintains quality in programs presented in their location, including off-site locations as needed
