Job Description

Marmot Library Network is looking for a Digital Repository Program Manager with a proactive, team spirited attitude that can bring experience and initiative to this expanding and successful organization. The successful candidate will plan and coordinate Marmot resources needed to build and maintain the digital repository.

JOB TITLE:         DIGITAL REPOSITORY PROGRAM MANAGER

CLASS:                 Exempt, full-time (40 hours/week)

MANAGER:          R&D Manager

PURPOSE: Under general supervision, the Digital Repository Program Manager markets and promotes the Marmot Digital Repository; maintains and configures the digital repository; advises software developers on digital repository needs, innovations, and trends; and works to help member libraries implement local digitization projects and partner with local historical and cultural organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters in Library & Information Science
  • 5+ years relevant work experience with:
  • Metadata standards and best practices
  • Digital Repository software
  • Grant applications
  • Colorado drivers license
  • Digitization of library materials

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and coordinate Marmot resources needed to build and maintain the digital repository
  • Coordinate and plan for library-specific collections to be contributed to the shared digital repository
  • Design Create and customize frameworks for new projects to be included within the digital repository
  • Create project-specific or institution-specific interfaces for collections within the digital repository
  • Work with designers and developers to create usable interfaces to best display the collections
  • Develop and collaborate on metadata plans for the digital repository
  • Help member libraries in evaluate and prioritize collections for digitization
  • Write grants and assist institutions with grant writing
  • Administer and configure the digital repository software
  • Monitor digital repository trends and best practices
  • Present at conferences about the digital repository
  • Compile statistics, evaluate, and report on the program in general and on specific projects
  • Drive to Colorado libraries in all but severe weather conditions
  • Maintain user and technical documentation in wikis and web sites
  • Assist Marmot staff in other projects or tasks
