Job Description

The Southwest Acupuncture College is looking for a Part-time Librarian with a proactive attitude that can bring knowledge as well as innovation to our library. Job responsibilities include maintaining the administrative and day-to-day functions of the library including  cataloging, collection development, reference, and information literacy to support the integration of research into the curriculum.  The library is a vital component of our graduate program and serves 100-150 students and faculty. The successful candidate will have a Master's Degree in Library Science and knowledge of integrative medicine and/or chinese medicine is preferred but not necessary. Southwest Acupuncture College is a two campus college in Colorado and New Mexico. The Librarians at the two campuses will work collaboratively and participate in staff meetings, student orientation, and other administrative activities. Job Description 

Provide library and research services for the college alongside maintenance of the library and its collections. Ensure that resources and services are current and accessible to library users as needed.  Reports directly to the Campus Director.  Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Utilize skills in:  cataloging, collection development, reference, and information literacy to support the integration of research into the curriculum.
  • Provide information on library policies and procedures.  Your reference role includes to search files, reference shelves, and electronic systems to locate requested information. 
  • Establish goals and measure outcomes to meet accreditation requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate programs such as a speaker series and other events, as applicable
  • Seek best practices to help students and faculty connect with our library.   You ensure their learning needs are met, be they database searches or through enrichment activities
  • Maintain current awareness of professional trends and methods
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings, student orientations, and library committee meetings
  • Collaboarate with other campus 
  • Other relevant duties as required

Additional Info & Requirements

Masters of Library & Information degree, i.e. MLS degree

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:’

  • Word processing software
  • Spreadsheet software
  • Database software
  • Classroom Management systems & IRLs
  • Abilities with software such as Constant Contact helpful, but not necessary
