Job Description

Library Technician, Colorado Mountain College, Spring Valley, Glenwood Springs, CO

This is an 11 month position. Under the general supervision of the Library Director, the Library Technician provides technical services and support for the Campus Library. This position instructs/assists library users, provides reference services, catalogs and classifies materials, provides library instruction as needed, serves on library committees as needed, assists with collection development, including book and DVD orders; maintains reserve collection; compiles data; prepares reports; and assists in operations, procedures, and processes for the College Library. Strong technology skills desired; ability to learn ILS (Integrated Library System) software necessary. Evening and weekend hours may be required.

Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 1 year related work experience; or, Associate’s Degree or two-year college certificate and 2 years related work experience, or High School Diploma/GED and 4 years related work experience.

Knowledge of: principles and practices of library science; information technology as it relates to libraries; computer technology skills (Word, Power Point, Excel, etc) desired. Ability to learn ILS (Integrated Library System) software essential.

Ability to: organize and prioritize work and handle multiple projects; exceptional verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
