Job Description

The University of Colorado Boulder Libraries is looking for a Government Information Copy Cataloger to assist with the cataloging of government publications, authority work, database file maintenance, supervision, and digital projects. What your key responsibilities will be: 
The Government Information Copy Cataloger:
• Coordinates and manages the copy cataloging of federal and state government documents, both print and electronic; may catalog foreign and international/UN documents 
• Participates in developing procedures 
• Supervises, trains, and revises the work of other staff cataloging government documents; 
• Oversees the work of student assistants 
• Creates and/or derives original records for government materials using national and local cataloging standards
• Classifies and performs limited subject analysis on government documents 
• Develops strategies for cataloging government resources 
• Acts as team leader for various special projects 
• This position also enhances records for government documents in OCLC(Online Computer Library Center)
• Responds effectively to the changing demands of cataloging practices, the department, and the Libraries organization 
• The work performed by this position assists the university community as well as the public in finding and accessing library resources through maintaining quality electronic records in the Libraries online database, Chinook

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current Colorado resident in order to apply.

• Four years of general library experience involving typing, ordering, preparing, shelving, and maintaining library materials including two years of technical library experience involving cataloging/classifying, providing reference and patron services, and creating/revising procedures.

• Two years of coursework from an accredited college or university including twelve semester hours of library science course work may substitute for two years of the general library experience. If using an educational substitution, please upload a copy of your unofficial or official transcripts outlining this coursework.

Materials cataloged are for the general collections in most disciplines, Special Collections, Archives, and Government Information.
