Job Description

Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) strives to be the essential destinations for all generations to connect, discover and create. This position provides core library service in development of the library's collection and ensures both quality control and appropriate quantity of the material purchased for JCPL. In addition, provides access to materials not owned by JCPL through Interlibrary loan. JCPL is both a lending and borrowing library in the Interlibrary Loan collective. This position expands access to materials by processing requests through interlibrary loan protocols and standards. Ensures timely processing and accuracy of materials ordered for: print, electronic, media, serials and standing orders.

This position complies with CRS24-90-119, ALA Code of Ethics governing patron privacy/confidentiality and Americans with Disabilities Act. and with laws governing patron privacy and confidentiality under CRS24-90-119 and the Code of Ethics for the American Library Association. This position reports to the Interlibrary Loan and Collection Services Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Processes Interlibrary Loan Requests:
* Processes requests for the lending and borrowing of materials through the central Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and resource sharing operations. * Utilizes various databases to research and verify JCPL patron requests as needed and to identify lending locations for requested material. * Sends requests via established ILL programs. * Verifies bibliographic information and processes requests for libraries requesting JCPL materials.* Maintains borrowing and lending records including copyright files and prepares and routes materials for both borrowing and requesting. * Maintains files paper and electronic.* Participates in ongoing improvements and tests to the library's ILL module, future modules/programs and procedures.

Acquisitions Material Ordering:
* Places orders for JCPL's collection; organizes, prioritizes and enters orders into the library's acquisition and collection development modules of our Integrated Library System Platform (ILSP). * Enters orders in vendor software and verifies order information, stock availability, resolves discrepancies and encumbers funds and handles daily financial posting. * Tracks a set materials budget and runs various reports as needed. * Maintains files both paper and electronic. * Participates in ongoing improvements to the library's ACQS module, future modules/programs and procedures.

Daily Operational Duties:
* Assists with serial orders and renewals, maintaining serial records, ensuring accuracy and currency of all records. * Reports missing items, runs and processes serial reports. * Communicates with staff, patrons and vendors; participates in meetings, special projects and other activities as requested. * Working with the ACQS Librarian and Lead ILL/ACQS Associate will do initial assessment of AV items coming from JCPL's libraries to determine how these items will be handled, including but not limited to, replacement, weeding, washing, cases, etc.

Other Duties:
* Acts as Person in Charge of the Library Service Center on an as needed basis including requesting facility or equipment maintenance services, responding to disturbances or emergencies, resolving problems and/or contacting emergency response personnel as appropriate. * Participates with others in cross-functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives.
