Job Description

Regis University Library seeks a dynamic, team-oriented librarian to participate in the development and provision of reference and information services, with a special emphasis on research help desk service. Responsibilities include reference and research assistance, collection development, development of online instructional and informational resources, and occasional formal user instruction in computer-equipped and traditional classrooms.

This is an entry-level, 12-month ranked faculty position with a Wednesday through Saturday (32 hour/week) schedule. Some evening hours may be required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1.Provide reference and informational services to library users in the library on the Northwest campus and beyond through appropriate technologies, effectively utilizing print and electronic resources. (40%)
2.Serve as bibliographer and liaison to faculty for collection development within assigned subject specialties. (15 – 20%)
3.Participate in the library instruction program, including the development of faculty contacts, instructional materials, and presentations. (20%)
4.Participate in the development and execution of Research and Instruction Department policies and procedures. (5%)
5.Provide shared oversight of the library during duty hours, as necessary. (<5%)
6.Participate in university governance bodies. (5%)
7.Keep abreast of professional practice through such activities as professional reading, discussion lists, visiting other libraries, attending professional conferences and other continuing education opportunities. (5%)
8.Contribute to the profession through such activities as reading papers at professional and learned societies, consulting, publishing, participating in the committee structure of professional and learned societies. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications

1. Possession of a Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school (or provision of evidence of substantial progress towards completion of the degree).
2. Knowledge of print and electronic reference sources in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, and health care.
3. Experience in classroom teaching.
4. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
5. Ability to work effectively with a diverse clientele and staff.
